IMPORTANT NEWS: Parkwire has moved!

October 5, 2017

Dear Parkwire Readers,

Parkwire is the first—and as far as I know, still the only—online daily digest of global news about parks, protected areas, and cultural sites. I started it in 2010 when I was executive director of the George Wright Society. The idea was to give GWS members and other readers a one-stop shop for news and commentary about parks, protected areas, and cultural sites around the world. The editorial emphases are on resource and policy issues—reflecting the mission of the GWS.

Between that beginning and the end of September 2017, I produced over 13,000 posts in Parkwire, as executive director through April 2017 (at which time I stepped down from that position) and then as a contractor to GWS for the last few months.

Unfortunately, budgetary considerations compelled the GWS to discontinue its sponsorship of Parkwire at the end of September 2017. The hope is that GWS will be able to reinstate its sponsorship at some point.

In the meantime, I am committed to keeping Parkwire going, in two places:

If there's interest, I may also continue to post the stories on Twitter.

I invite you to continue following Parkwire.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Thanks!
